The Gathering of Quilters Board Minutes The Gathering of Quilters Board Meeting was held October 20,2010 at 7:20 pm in the home of President Colleen Florkowski. Nine members present.A motion was made by Debbie Linenkugel and seconded by Kathy Stein to approve the Minutes of the August Board Meeting. Vote taken. Minutes approved.Treasurer : Nina Riddle noted the Block of the Month Funds are not included in the income portion of the report. She will amend the report and include those funds and deduct the cost of Garnet's dinner /from the expenses.Fat Quarter Raffle : Beth Rohrbacher had no report. It was suggested that she make the Fat Quarter raffle baskets up with 20 fat quarters so the winner could make a Turning 20 quilt with them.Membership : Jill Holt reported 95 members paid at the September Meeting with 15 being new members and 2 visitors.Historian : Several Members mentioned they do not want photos taken of their quilts. It was decided that if a member does not want a photo taken for publication either on the Web site or in our digital camera frame, they should inform the Historian Ruth Woods when they come up to the stage for Show and Tell. The Historian should not be required to remember who does or does not want a photo taken.Newsletter : Hattie Kate Howell reported the Newsletter will be drafted next week and should be ready for publication by the end of the month. Colleen will e-mail Peverly to update the web-site.Program : Hattie Kate suggested for the January Demo/Vendor night someone to demonstrate embellishments and different types of edges. For the Mini Demo/Vendor Night Demonstrators and Vendors should be kept to Members only. Cost for table $10.00Sharen Weber from Happy Apple Quilts in Milan, MI is our November Speaker. She will bring patterns and one yard cuts of fabric for sale. Her topic is "What Does A Pattern-Maker Do". Sharen and her sister have just opened a quilt shop in Florida. She is not coming in time for dinner with Board Members. Programs 2011-2012 : Kathy Stein has scheduled Teri Tope from Material Girls as the speaker for November, 2011. Sonflower Quilt Shop will hold classes.Retreat : Diana Lindhorst reported the Retreat prices at Widewater may be going up to $116.00 per person. Sauder's charges $110.00 for use of room and $100.00 for 2 nights/2 person room. She will call to get the rates for March and see if they have any openings around the time frame of our retreat. She will also check with Kathy Kanitz to see what she found out from Quilt Patch about when and where they hold there retreat.New Business : It was requested that the Door Prize Basket be put on the stage so people can find it.The International Quilt Fest will be in Cincinnati April 8-10, 2011 at the Convention Center. Classes start the day before.Fons and Porter magazine subscriptions can be had for $15.00 a year. Nina will have the sign up sheet.A Thank You note was received from our September Speaker Garnet Smalley.For the discount from JoAnn Fabrics, you have to go on line to get it.
