Thursday May 19, 2011 The meeting was called to order by President Colleen Florkowski. She asked for a motion to approve the Minutes of the March 17, 2011 meeting as printed in the May newsletter. A motion was made by Karen Rupp and seconded by Ellie Grabarczyk. Vote taken and motion approved.CHALLENGE : Beth Rohrbacher announced she was passing out vote paper for the challenge. Three prizes would be awarded at the end of the meeting. The challenge quilts were displayed on tables with a number assigned to each for voting purposes.Colleen asked the eight Members who won a ribbon at the Sauder Quilt show to stand And be recognized. Colleen also asked the Board and Committee members to stand and be recognized. Colleen asked Treasurer Nina Riddle to explain the Budget expenses and proposal to raise the dues to $25.00 a year. A motion was made by Hattie Kate Howell and seconded by Ellie Grabarczyk to raise the dues. Vote taken and motion approved.MEMBERSHIP : Jill Holt announced there were seven guests attending the Meeting. Forms to pay dues would be in the Program Book and Newsletter this summer. It was requested that dues be paid before the September Meeting if possible.ANNOUNCEMENTS : Beth Rohrbacher announced that tonight’s speaker Gretchen Schultz's birthday was today. All sang "Happy Birthday" to her.Kaleidoscope Quilt show July 15 & 16th information is available. See the May Pieceful Times newsletter. Kathy Horvath has a volunteer sign up sheet. Challenge Packages are available for $5.00Several Bus Trips to the 42nd Annual NQA Quilt show are available.Pamphlets are available for the Black Swamp Benefit June 17th & 18th, the Fiber Art Show June 4th and 5th, and the Kaleidoscope of Quilts show July 15 & 16th.NOMINATING COMMITTEE Kathy Pertchek and Margie Stone announced those nominated for election for 2 years for the offices: Vice President: Carmen EL-Amin Treasurer: Billie Szymanski Katie Jarosz (?) made a motion to accept slate seconded by Londa Burkett. Vote taken. Motion passed. Colleen announced 2011-12 Chairmen Membership for will be Kathy HubertRefreshments will be co-chaired by Grace Peitz and Wanda Dyer. She asked for volunteer for Publicity and Program Speaker 2012-2013. Job descriptions were provided by Billie Szymanski and Kathy Stein.Irene Rose volunteered to do Publicity and Londa Burkett an Nina Riddle will do Programs for 2012-13.Program Book will be done by Diana JacobRetreat will be co-chaired by Debbie Linenkugel and Lana Schlegel. Debbie mentioned they are looking for a new location for the Retreat. Look for more information in the Newsletter.NEWSLETTER : Hattie Kate Howell mentioned it would save money for the Guild if the Newsletter could be emailed to more members who have e-mail address rather than send hard copy and pay postage.Small groups of quilters were asked to stand and be recognized when the name of their group was mentioned. See May newsletter for more details about each group. Colleen announced that Garnett Smalley owner of Cotton by Post was having a quilt show featuring quilts from Hawaii and Tahiti August 8th-13th at the Hilton Hotel in London, Ontario, Canada. PROJECT LINUS - Nancy Bussing announced she is looking for a Chapter coordinator to take over for her as she is moving out of state.The 50/50 winner was Katie Jarosz. The Fat Quarter Raffle winners were Candy Colleen Rudd and Kathy Deanda. Approximately 40 door prizes donated by Sunflower Quilt shop were won by Members.Several Members displayed their quilts during Show and Tell.Gretchen Schultz presented a very interesting slide show program on antique sewing tools dating from the 1700's -1900's.
